On this day in 1897, 11 of the 15 Bicolanos arrested by Spanish authorities for alleged involvement in the 1896 Philippine Revolution were executed by firing squad at Bagumbayan (now Luneta Park), Manila. They were Rev. Inocencio Herrera, Rev. Gabriel Prieto, Rev. Severino Diaz, Manuel Abella, Domingo Abella, Camilo Jacob, Tomas Prieto, Florendo Lerma, Macario Valentin, Mariano Melgarejo and Cornelio Mercado.
